Yay! I finished the shirt! Making this shirt only took me about 2 hours to do. It was super easy and fun. It actually turned out really well, I'm so happy. I used one of my dad's old shirts to make it. It fits my brother perfectly and he loves it. Here, I finished making the neck line and sewed that on. It's a little crooked but it looks OK. My scissors do not cut the greatest! 😆 Here I'm just doing the final stitches down the sides of the shirt. Almost done!!! This is the shirt all finished and on my little brother. I'm so happy I tried this and I can't wait to make another. The only thing I messed up on was the front and the back are the same height around the neck. I needed to make the front a bit lower. Oh well, it looks fine and my brother loves it. I will make sure I lower the front of the neck next time. Bye for now. Here is the link to the shirt instructions.  Made Everyday

Sewing!!! About a week or two ago I got a Singer sewing machine. I bought it used from someone, but it works beautifully. I have used it pretty much every day since I got it. I love to sew and create new things. So far (sew far) I've made 3 little pillows and about 7 cute little coasters. I also tried to make a book mark that holds a pencil.  This is the coaster idea I got from Angie's Art Studio . They are so cute and really easy to make. I made them out of my sister's old shirt and a pair of my little brother's old jeans. This week's project for me is going to be making a shirt for my little brother. I found a great website,  Made Everyday , that has written instructions and a tutorial on how to make a little shirt. Also there is a free print off pattern that is size 4t-5t. It seems easy to do, let's just hope I can follow it and do a good job. If not, I can always try again. I will post my finished project.  Sewing is now one of my favouri...
Welcome to Making Shades of Green.  My name is Bronte Vankesteren and I'm 14 years old. I live in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada with my family of six.  I love to travel to different places.   When I was 12 years old I went on a six-month exchange through Exchange Families International to France. I am now fluent in French as well as English and I am learning Dutch.  I also love to spend time outdoors, going camping with friends and family and going for hikes. My current new hobbies are rock climbing and sewing.  This blog is about me trying new things, exploring new adventures and learning new skills.  The reason I chose the name " Making Shades of Green" is because green is my favourite colour and I love to be outside. Also, being green can mean being new at things. There are many different shades of green and many new things to try.  And I'm green at blogging...
